The 'creator of blogs' lets out some steam

Probably not the right thing to do, but I just can't help myself. I think this says a lot about why so many people end up arguing and having problems with Dave Winer:

Scripting News: 2/27/2005

A little story. I was at a meeting with potential investors when the Fortune article hit, with all the bloggers on the cover. We had just said I was one of the leaders of the blogging revolution, and one of the investors pulled out the magazine, as if to ask why my name and picture weren't in the piece. It does hurt when you don't get the credit. It limits how much you can do in the future. It determines who gets the money to pursue their ideas. It's not something to brush aside so easily. It matters. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

If we just ignore the argument about whether Dave is indeed a leader in "the blogging revolution", just the notion of pushing yourself as one of "the leaders of the blogging revolution" makes me shiver. I don't know if its my Norwegian heritage, but it seems to me that when you talk to investors you would talk about what your company can do and does more than what kind of position in any given community your management has.

But as I said, might be a cultural thing.
