I promise that I won’t be peddeling politics on my weblog. But this statement on the war on terror from some prominent americans deserves some attention: We won’t deny our consciences

Jarle,
Thanks for posting this. The “We won’t deny our consciences” document is not getting the attention that it deserves here in the US. Infact, I can not think of a single US news source that has covered this valid criticism of the current policy in the US.
I was rather confused by it. It said it was signed by a list of prominent Americans but outside of the guy who used to be on the Mary Tyler Moore show, I have never heard of any of these people. And seriously, whether they like it or not, George W. Bush is the elected President of the United States and has both the right and obligation to speak for them whether they like it or not.
Michael, you are confusing me. I thought United States of America was a democracy.
Michael,
You need to check your facts:
“George W. Bush is the elected President of the United States”
i think you mean selected.
Michael,
One of the names is that of Noam Chomsky. To broaden your outlook on such matters, you could visit this: http://www.zmag.org/chomskyarchive.htm
