A rant about linking back

Just thought I would take a minute or two to address the curtesy of link backs. Most of the time I refer to what other people have written or found, and I try my very best to link back to these people. (See the [Via ] links at the bottom of the posts). I try to make sure that I honour the work other people have put into collecting information, and make sure that those that actually do the hard work get some recognition for it. Once in a while, […]

28th of may was/is (depending on where on the globe you are when I am posting this) my birthday. I have turned 29 for the third time. (Ok, so I am 32 ;-) I hope you don’t take offence, but I thought I would be a little weasel and suggest that you could send me a dollar or two as a birthday gift. I’ll use the money to buy a book or two, and send some more money to other resource sites I appreciate. You can send the money by

Microsoft winds up on both ends of software piracy stick

Software piracy by one of the biggest members of the BSA, that would be unthinkable, wouldn’t it? Not according to Newsforge and their discovery of a Microsoft owned company that stole another companys code. NewsForge: The Online Newspaper of Record for Linux and Open Source Did you know Microsoft was convicted of software piracy last year by a French court? Not many people do. Battle Beyond the Banner

ABCNEWS.com writes about Online Ads Become Active and Intrusive. They have all failed, banner ads, skyscrapers, pop-up ads, etc. We all ignore them, and almost nobody click on them anymore. Click through rates used to be at 5-6% in the early days of the web, but now the average click through rate is two-tenths of a percent. The next move is commercials you won’t be able to ignore, full page ads that separate you from the content you want to see. For Flash developers, there should be a lot more

Netron RIP

My last employer Netron is filing for bankruptcy, its really sad to see a company with creativity, spirit and courage to go their own way going down the drain. For Netron it was the total silence in the market after 9-11 that did it. The company never recovered after having to go months without much work. I wish the best for all the people I worked with, each of them became dear friends and I will miss working together with them on a daily basis, but hopefully we will all
